Materials and sourcing
Flowers and foliage are used extensively in Baumodo designs creating an alternative contemporary look to classic wallpaper designs). All materials are pressed and then preserved though various techniques used in the process. The ranges of materials outside of our standard ranges are extensive. Baumodo will advise on organic availability and technical feasibility of incorporating a chosen material into an installation.
Metal leaf simulates the metallic qualities of gold and silver leaf. It is dynamic in substance and can be used for background sheen. We also apply the metal leaf to gild mixed media within the design. Precious metals, genuine gold and silver leaf, can be incorporated for clients requiring a lavish finish.
Mother of pearl, is an organic-inorganic composite material produced by some mollusks as an inner shell layer; it is also what makes up pearls. It is very strong, resilient, and iridescent. Baumodo uses a combination of mother of pearl paint techniques combined with the material itself for layering and creating a pearlescent finish.
Butterflies are very much in vogue today and are used artistically in many applications. Within the Signature range, we incorporate the preserved and pressed butterflies. Designs can also include a combination of real butterflies with traditional artwork in a Trompe L’oeil style or with butterflies made of different media on a larger scale.
Butterfly prices vary tremendously and are based on their rarity, quality and colour. The Signature range makes use of butterflies from the Central African Republic.
Butterflies typically live between 2-14 days and are humanly sourced. Their sizes range from 1.5cm to 28cm but are generally between 5-8cm.

Swarovski is the luxury brand name for the range of precision-cut crystal glass and related products produced by Swarovski AG of Wattens, Austria. Swarovski crystals come in a vast range of sizes and colours. They are hand ornamented into various Baumodo designs.
